What do cats eat and other questions about your cat's eating and drinking behaviour

For cats, eating and drinking are just as important as for us humans and even vital. Reason enough to pay a little extra attention to what your cat eats and drinks, but also at what times and how to best feed your cat. Because what do cats eat? How often does a cat eat and what are cats allowed to eat? In any case, a designer cat food bowl is a great item for eating and enjoying both eating and drinking. First of all, we often get the question: "How often does a cat eat?". In principle, cats need two meals a day. For example, you give a portion of kibble in the morning and in the evening a portion of kibble (dry food), or wet food. If you have one cat in the house, your cat can choose whether to eat his bowl at once or always in small snacks spread throughout the day. In any case, your cat will adapt to the regularity in the house. His biological clock will tell him exactly when it's feeding time. We're sure you've noticed this at times when your cat is begging you, or walking with you to the kitchen.

What do cats prefer to eat and what does the ideal cat food bowl look like?

And what are cats allowed to eat? What a cat eats differs from cat to cat, just like people do. Some cats follow a certain diet, but in general cats like to eat dry food: kibble. They contain all the nutrients your cat needs. Feeding wet food is also allowed. These are the well-known square tins with a meat mix, poultry or salmon. They are often real treats for your cat! Cats love meat. And how much does a cat drink on average? Compared to humans, cats drink very little. A general guideline is 50 milliliters of water per kilogram of body weight. So a healthy cat of five kilos drinks about 250 ml of water per day. So always make sure that there is a drinking bowl ready for your cat. By the way, do you give your cat a lot of wet food? Then it's good to know that it already contains 80 percent moisture.

The best designer cat food bowl can be found at The Pet Empire

At luxury pet shop The Pet Empire you will find a beautiful designer cat food bowl, which you can use for cat food, wet food and water. The MiaCara Desco cat food bowl is a beautiful example of a stylish cat buffet. This handy water- and food bowl has two bowls, which hang in a frame a bit above the ground. This ensures an optimal eating- and drinking posture for your cat. Silicone feet and rubber rings ensure that nothing moves around during eating. And well, those who eat and drink should also go to the litter box every now and then. Because how much does a cat actually urinate and how often? That is also a frequently asked question. An average cat poops once a day and pees about twice a day. Do you notice that your cat is spraying and do you have problems with the spraying cat? Then it could be that your cat has a bladder infection or bladder stones. Always consult your vet to be sure what is going on. Spraying cats can often be prevented by having your cat neutered.
